The Yukon River Quest is a 715 km ultra-marathon paddle race from Whitehorse to Dawson City, Yukon.

This is a shot of my teammate Heidi Virtanen and I after 56 hours of paddling. We competed together for the first time as team Huptown Girls. Our goals this year:

  1. Operate as a strong team- making decisions together and being mentally and emotionally strong together.
  2.  Not spend time in suffering- enjoy the experience of racing, not just finishing.

These robust goals were the core of our mission- we had no time goal and no placement goal. Still, these foundational robust goals led us to scoreboard success, too. In 56 hours and 6 minutes, we finished strong and left the water more resilient, strong, confident, and aware of our own power. Huptown Girls finished the 2018 Yukon River Quest 35th overall out of 109 teams, 2nd in women's tandem canoe and 10th of 35 in tandem canoe.
